- Niagara Artists' Centre
Rosemary Hale Receives 2010 Laura Sabia Award! Dr. Hale has been recognized by the women artists of Niagara as this year's recipient of the Laura Sabia Award. The award is sponsored annually by the Niagara Artists Centre in commemoration of International Women's Day. It recognizes a woman in the Niagara community who has made an outstanding commitment to the arts and furthered the careers of women artists.
- Merry Maids - Cleaning for a Reason!
Fighting cancer is difficult enough, but living with it is even tougher - and that's where Merry Maids and the Cleaning for A Reason Foundation steps in. This nonprofit offers free professional housecleaning, and maid services to improve the lives of women undergoing treatment for cancer - any type of cancer.

I just got the most amazing, fantastic news from Hope International. Our gift was matched - so the value was more than $9,000.00. And here it gets better... it is being used to ship a waiting cargo container of medical supplies from a company in the U.S. who had the supplies, but couldn't pay for the shipping.

On Thursday, February 4, 2010, at a formal gala event in Toronto hosted by the Economic Developers Council of Ontario (EDCO), the Niagara Economic Development Corporation (NEDC) received a 2009 EDCO Award of Excellence in Marketing for the Niagara Original brand. Niagara's economic development agency also won an Award of Merit from EDCO for its Business Directory. Congratulations!

PenFinancial Credit Union presented the Niagara College Foundation with a $10,000 donation on February 9th, during the first Placement Appreciation Event, hosted by the School of Community Services. The gift will be matched by the Ontario Trust for Student Support to establish an endowed fund, which will provide an annual $500 bursary.
