Niagara Region has contracted with local business leader Verne Milot, to guide the transition of the Region's economic development function. Milot, founder of St.Catharines-based Growth Associates, will work with Regional staff to further refine and implement the Regional Economic Development Transition Plan, building an internally-led team that will provide services previously delivered by the Niagara Economic Development Corporation.

December 14, 2011 - Betty-Lou Souter, CEO of Community Care of St. Catharines and Thorold, received the Ontario Medal for Good Citizenship for her volunteerism. Over the past 30 years, Souter has been past chair of: the board of directors of the YMCA of Niagara, board of directors of the Niagara Community Foundation and the board of trustees for the Niagara Health System, and is a member of the board of Brock University.

The President of Offsite Industries, Ed Baldassi, has been powder painting in the Niagara Region for 30 years.
