Residents are invited to attend consultations at either 1 p.m. or 7 p.m. in council chambers at City Hall to share their thoughts on the development with project consultants CBRE Ltd. A site plan of the spectator facility's general location will be available for viewing.

The recent announcements by the Ontario government to close the slots and remove support for horse racing in Fort Erie, and its plans to build a casino in Toronto are only the latest hits to Niagara's already fragile economy. For the past 20 years, Niagara's economy has taken a beating with more than 15,000 manufacturing jobs lost. Combined with a lost decade of tourism gains due to 9/11, SARS and a high Canadian dollar, main pillars of Niagara's economy have been weakened and destroyed.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (April 18, 2012) - Niagara College is back at the head of the class in terms of student satisfaction in Ontario, according to results of the provincial Student Satisfaction Survey released today. The Key Performance Indicator Student Satisfaction Survey shows that 85.7 percent of Niagara College students are satisfied with their experience at Niagara College - a 2.6 percent jump over last year's result, and more than 2 percent higher than the provincial average of 83 percent.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - March 27, 2012 (Niagara) - With a massive structural deficit and a continued sag in the global economy, the Ontario government has released a budget that projects a return to balanced budgets in 2017-18. The budget has been built on the projection of $17.7 billlion in savings in the next three years and $4.4. billion in new revenue growth. While the projections released in the budget signal that the Ontario government is getting serious about addressing the province's debt load and structural deficit - the test will be in how the government fairs in cutting expenses and at the same encouraging investments in Ontario.
