Niagara - Starting Friday, May 21 and just in time for the Victoria Day long weekend, GO
will once again offer seasonal Niagara Falls weekend train service this summer, St.
Catharines MPP Jim Bradley and Niagara Falls MPP Kim Craitor announced today.
"Last summer, nearly 50,000 weekend GO train riders helped boost Niagara's wineries,
restaurants and attractions, as well as providing fast, affordable, convenient service to
Toronto," said Bradley. "It is great to see that the big green and white locomotives will be
pulling into St. Catharines and Niagara Falls again."
"This is great news for tourists and visitors to the Niagara area," said Craitor. "This
seasonal train will also reduce congestion especially on the busy QEW."
GO Transit listened to its passengers and is making an improvement to the schedule this
year by offering a Friday night train trip to help travellers start their weekends. With many
weekend and holiday trips to pick from, customers will be able to enjoy the scenic route to Niagara with stops in Toronto, Port Credit, Oakville, Burlington, St. Catharines, and
Niagara Falls.
This GO service will provide an alternative to driving to popular Niagara attractions or to
Toronto. The rail service will enable Niagara residents and businesses to welcome even
more visitors from the GTA to the many exciting attractions that the Niagara region has to
offer, including wineries, restaurants, the Falls and casinos.
Specific information about the Niagara Falls weekend GO Train service will be available
closer to the start of service on Friday, May 21.
